For many people the medical approach to pain relief is only partially effective and some cannot tolerate the side effects. Complementary treatment can be used alongside or, in some cases and with the approval of your medical practitioner, instead of your medication. I offer treatment for pain that is effective, non-toxic and non-addictive.
I have found over the last 6 years of my practice, when I have specialised in chronic pain management, that a combination of mindfulness and homeopathy is effective for most people. Contact me now to find out what I can do for you.
Mindfulness techniques
Mindfulness techniques are known to be helpful for people suffering chronic pain, depression and a range of other conditions. I have developed a short mindfulness meditation, the Pain Release Technique, which is based on mindfulness principles. In a preliminary study, people suffering from fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, back pain, rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory conditions have found it helpful in reducing pain, relaxing them and helping them sleep. Many have found that using this technique allows them to reduce the number of pain killers that they need to take. The results have been so encouraging that a second study is scheduled. Contact me if you would like to be involved.
Testimonials about the PRT from people with chronic pain:
‘[In the night] Rather than thrashing about and then getting up and taking a pain killer, I do the PRT and fall asleep!’ Diane
‘ I do the process and the pain goes, I am left at peace’. Margaret.
‘It has helped the tiredness and eased the pain’ Gerald.
‘It allows you to accept things instead of tensing up more, you relax out of it. I have not taken any pain-killers for 3 weeks!’ Ruth.
Homeopathy
I am part of a research team comprising academics from Sheffield and Leeds Universities, Clinicians from Barnsley Hospital and professional homeopaths. We have been investigating the effectiveness of homeopathy in the treatment of fibromyalgia
In an initial trial, now published in a scientific Journal, the results showed that fibromyalgia sufferers who had received homeopathy had significantly lower levels of fatigue, tiredness on waking and pain and felt better on more days.
A second trial, just finished, but not yet published, has again shown homeopathic treatment reduces the symptoms of FMS and that treatment lasting 40 weeks is more effective than treatment lasting 20 weeks
