Ian Townsend writes
‘ “Supervision” is a process which offers the developing practitioner (of whatever level) a framework within which guidance, support and mentoring can be explored.
Independent practice can be many things: funny or frightening; perplexing or straightforward; stimulating or stressful. “Burn out” is a reality for many practitioners in caring professions. The supervisory relationship contributes to the growth and development of the practitioner, and is an important factor in maintaining her health and that of the profession, and most importantly, contributing to excellence in patient care.
Supervision offers an opportunity for addressing issues that arise in practice in a way which is both supportive and challenging.’
I have been under supervision for twelve years experiencing the styles of several excellent supervisors including Ian Townsend, Andrea Bartig, Gill Scott and Nette Humphreys. In 2005 I trained with Sheila Ryan. I work with health professionals from a variety of disciplines using person-centred techniques and bringing in my skills as an awareness coach where ever these will support you as the supervisee.
Please contact me to discuss working with me in supervision.
